Meralco, the Philippines’ largest power distributor, has signed a new contract with Andrew Tan’s Travellers International Hotel Group to install a 1.5-megawatt solar photovoltaic (PV) system at the company’s facility in Silangan.
The project is expected to generate 2.5 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy per year, and will help Anglo Watsons offset a portion of its energy costs. The solar installation is scheduled to be completed by January 2023.
This is not the first time Meralco has partnered with a Tan-led company on a solar project. In 2019, the two companies worked together to install a rooftop PV system at Megawide’s construction site in Bataan.
Meralco is committed to helping its customers adopt renewable energy and reduce their carbon footprint. The company offers a number of incentives for customers who install solar PV systems, including a rebate of up to P30,000 per kilowatt (kW) of installed capacity.
